They're thick enough to feel like a good pair of pyjamas. However, because they are light, you can easily wear the short-short set in the summer or if you get hot at night. Even in the summer, I can get away with wearing a short-sleeved top and long pants bottoms. Cotton is a breathable fabric that is ideal for sleeping. If you get cold in the winter, you can wear the long-long to bed, and it is fantastic! In the winter, if I'm wearing them to the lounge, I'll layer on a sweatshirt, slippers, or robe for extra warmth. The fabric is completely opaque.
